Nonprofits: Digital Voices — Record and Launch is a five-week, hands-on class designed to help nonprofit organizations learn how to tell powerful stories that amplify their community impact. Participants will explore how to develop meaningful narratives around local events, community volunteers, and the causes that matter most to them.

Throughout the series, you’ll learn how to plan and script your story, record in-studio using robotic cameras, edit your audio and video, and launch your first digital episode. By the end of the course, your organization will have the tools and confidence to create content that inspires action and strengthens community connections.

Week 1: Building Your Story

Learn the fundamentals of storytelling for nonprofits. Identify your organization’s mission, define your message, and develop a script that connects with your audience. Participants will create an outline for their first story focused on a local event, volunteer, or community initiative.

Week 2: Stories and Mock Episode

A week centered on mastering interviewing, storytelling, script development, and recording a full mock episode.

Week 3: Recording in the Studio

Get hands-on experience recording in Public Media Network’s studio using robotic cameras and professional audio equipment. Learn how to set up shots, conduct interviews, and capture clear, engaging sound to bring your story to life.

Week 4: Editing and Post-Production

Discover how to edit your video and audio content to produce a polished episode. Participants will learn how to trim clips, add narration, background music, and visual elements that enhance storytelling.

Week 5: Editing and Submission

In the final week, participants will finalize their episode and learn how to upload and promote it across digital platforms. The class will discuss strategies to reach wider audiences, engage supporters, and continue producing digital stories that amplify their organization’s mission.
